Speeding - New PACT Priority

Agreed: 21 March 2018

Added by Sara Stephenson on 21 March 2018 at 15:46

Speeding vehicles continues to be an issue across the area and there is currently only one active speedwatch group in the Charlton Mackrell area. Our Speed enforcement unit are also regularly out and about monitoring the situation. If you want to make a difference to speed in the area then you may wish to consider volunteering to set up a new speedwatch group. At least four people are required to make this a success in any one area so if you would like to get involved please get in touch with the beat team by calling 101 or by attending Wincanton Police Station between 10:00 and 18:00 Monday to Friday.

Speeding in the area is still being monitored by the beat team, the speed enforcement unit and by our valued community speed watch groups. An interesting set of figures regarding community speed watch has recently been published on our force Twitter feed which says “July saw a monthly record for the number of community speed watch sessions carried out within Avon & Somerset by 142 speed watch groups. As a result of this we wrote to nearly four thousand drivers educating them on the impact that their speed has on communities giving the message to SLOW DOWN!”
