Coronavirus (COVID-19): the policing response and what you need to know

Anti Social Behaviour in Cale Park,Wincanton.

The Wincanton Neighbourhood Policing Team are appealing for witnesses to any Anti Social Behaviour in Cale Park and the Skate Park in Wincanton.

If you witness any incidents and recognise the offenders please contact the Police by telephoning 101 or you can report any incidents by telephoning Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous. You can also report an incident online on the Avon & Somerset Constabulary Website. A good description of anyone can also be very useful.

The Police would also like information of  any incidents where anyone is offered illegal substances, by either  local persons or strangers. You can be assured the Police will always keep your identity secure.

    We have received several reports recently of dog bites where the offending animal has not been on a lead, we therefore request that all dogs at the park are kept on a lead to prevent any further incidents or that they are muzzled if you do not wish them to be on a lead.

    We have received a report of a COVID breach with groups gathering at the Rec. if Officers encounter any groups whilst patrolling the park they will be issued with a COVID fine according to the current legislation.

    With the new COVID 19 national lockdown, you can only exercise with one other person outside in a public space. Large groups will contravene this legislation and anyone in the group runs the risk of a fine. If the group are under 18 then parents could be fined. Please ensure that everyone respects the latest lockdown rules.

    We are currently working with the council and partner agencies to develop links with the youth in the community to encourage good behaviour and less criminal activity. As part of a team we will be engaging with youth workers in the near future.

    Patrols of Cale Park

    Officers noted that social distancing was not being observed and took details of young people that were present in the skate park, if this continues to be an issue, the consideration of fines to their parents will be given.

    Police are working with the Council to ensure that the Park is a safe place for everyone to use.
