Coronavirus (COVID-19): the policing response and what you need to know

Dark nights and winter burglars

AS DARKER NIGHTS APPROACH NEW OPPORTUNTIES ARISE FOR BURGLARS!!

So please remember:

Check all doors and windows are secure before you go to bed at night.

Always close and lock all windows and doors when you leave your property. Also close curtains and leave a light on. If you are going away invest in a timer to switch your lights on and off. Burglars like the cover of darkness so sensor lights are also a good deterrent.

Ensure side entrances are secured, locked and not easy for anyone to climb over even if you are home

Always pack everything away when you have finished using it. This includes tools, machinery and bicycles. Think about using good quality alarmed padlocks for your outbuildings and secure bicycles using a good quality D lock.

Do not leave valuables on display through windows. This includes handbags, laptops and mobile phones.

Keep car /house keys out of sight and away from windows and doors.

For any Crime Prevention advice please contact your local neighbourhood policing team who have many items to offer.
