In line with this guidance, we would be able to confirm the number of e-scooters recorded as seized:

1 – by our Estates and Facilities team

2 – within the specific data field for seized vehicles within our crime recording system

 

As explained, this data would not be reflective of the true number of e-scooters seized in this period.

Response

Data has been provided below in response to your revised request. There is no mandatory recording process for this type of information within any of our systems or departments. As such, while we have provided the recorded information as requested, the data from each respective department is conflicting and neither is likely to be accurate, for the reasons previously explained.

 

E-scooters recorded as seized within Niche:

 

Please see below the number of e-scooters recorded as seized within your requested timeframe, within the relevant data field in our crime recording system, Niche:

 

From 01/01/2024 until 31/12/2025, a total of 16 e- scooters have been recorded as seized under S59 Police Reform Act.

 

Please see below the data recorded by our Estates and Facilities department, which is responsible for disposing of seized e-scooters. Please note that this department is not responsible for seizing e-scooters and the figures therefore do not reflect the total number of seized e-scooters. The figures do not include disposals of other similar vehicle types such as e-bike, e-motorbike and mobility scooter.
