We do not record costs specifically for vetting new recruits. I can provide you with the staffing costs for both the financial years requested:

In relation to question 3, our recording process for vetting moved from paper systems to digital in 2018. We are not able to confirm that all records from that year were transferred to the digital system and as such are not able to confirm accurate figures for 2018. However, in relation to those records held on our digital system, for the five years prior to the date of research – 02/02/2018 to 02/02/2023 – we have identified a total of 14,151 vetting applications received. The date range relates to the date when the vetting applications were received rather than processed.
