Badger cull costs

Police costs incurred for the badger cull in Avon and Somerset during 2023 amounted to £450,567.

These costs are covered in full by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra).

Badger culling is part of a Defra policy, licensed by Natural England, to carry out culls in selected rural areas to eradicate Bovine Tuberculosis (TB) by 2038.
