Detailing our approach to the use and retention of evidence obtained through the use of Body Worn Video (BWV), our procedure for sharing of footage to safeguard children and our compliance certificates.
BWV policy
The Body worn video policy (PDF) ensures:
- the integrity and continuity of any evidence or intelligence gained
- the admissibility, in court, of any evidence
- maintenance of public confidence in the police and their use of BWV
- adherence to legal requirements
Sharing of BWV to safeguard children procedure
Footage of BWV may provide evidence of offences committed against children or help professional partners understand the risk to a child and determine safeguarding action, including action agreed through safeguarding strategy discussions.
