Serious assault at Tesco store in Bristol under investigation

We’re investigating a serious assault at a Tesco store in Bristol in which two men were injured.

A disorder started inside the store in Eastgate Road, Eastville, at just before 6.30pm yesterday and continued into the car park, involving two vehicles.

A 43-year-old man suffered serious injuries but his condition is not life-threatening. A 27-year-old man suffered minor injuries.

A bladed weapon was used during the assault which has since been recovered by officers.

Two men have been arrested and are in custody. A 44-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent. A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of affray.

DI Richard Marsh said: “This was a violent and distressing incident which caused great concern to members of the public who were shopping at the supermarket at the time.

“I want to reassure people that a thorough investigation is well under way and we have arrested two people so far.

“We’re extremely grateful to everyone who contacted us with information and continue to help with our enquiries.

“If you were at the store at the time of the incident and saw anything significant which could help us, and you haven’t yet spoken to us, please get in touch.

“I’m particularly keen to speak to anyone who has mobile phone or dash cam footage of the incident.”
