Appeal after man injured in Lyde Green incident

We’re continuing to appeal for witnesses following an incident which left a man in critical condition in hospital.

A man remains in intensive care in hospital following the incident in Willowherb Road, Lyde Green, in the early hours of today (Wednesday, 20 November).

We previously issued an appeal for help to identify the man but we now believe we know who he is.

We were called at 1.42am to a report of a man having been detained by members of the public after allegedly trying to break into cars.

Officers attended by 1.51am and found the man to be unresponsive. An ambulance arrived at 2.05am and the man was taken to hospital where he remains in intensive care.

Three men aged 25, 35 and 49 have been arrested on suspicion of GBH and remain in police custody.

An investigation is under way and our enquiries are ongoing.
