We’re appealing for witnesses after a man was found with serious injuries in Crewkerne town centre.
A member of the public found the 39-year-old man in North Street at around 10.30pm yesterday (12 December). He’d suffered stab injuries and was treated by members of the public, the first officers on the scene and medics before being airlifted to hospital, where he remains. His condition is not believed to be life-threatening.
DS Adam Knee said: “An investigation is under way and we’re appealing for anyone in Crewkerne town centre who saw or heard anything suspicious last night to call us as soon as possible.
“While we haven’t established the exact location the man was attacked, we’re currently reviewing CCTV from around the town centre, making enquiries at local businesses and carrying out house-to-house enquiries.
“We believe this may have been a targeted rather than a random attack.”
Officers are carrying out additional patrols around Crewkerne today to provide reassurance. If anyone has concerns, please speak to a member of the local neighbourhood team.
If you have information which could help the inquiry, please call Investigations on 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5219286802.
