Updated appeal on assault on dog walker in Chard

Added on 11 August 2017 at 17:16

Officers were out talking to dog walkers and passers-by in Chard today, one week after a woman was assaulted.

We are renewing our appeal for witnesses and information about the incident which happened near to the reservoir off Chaffcombe Road.

We are re-issuing this e-fit of a man we would like to talk to, who was seen by witnesses nearby.

The woman was walking her dog near to a stream and a bridge and at about 4pm other dog walkers in the area heard a scream, before the woman stumbled towards people with serious head injuries.

We have still been unable to identify a man seen running away from the area. He is described as a white man, about 20-years-old, 6ft tall, medium build with a protruding stomach.

His face was round, very red, and he had blonde hair with a side fringe that went partially across his left eye.

He was wearing a black hoodie and black trousers.

Do you recognise the man in the e-fit?

The woman was being treated for her head injuries but is now in a stable condition.

Anyone with information should call 101 and ask to speak to DI Angela Burtonwood in Yeovil Investigations quoting reference number 5217178432.

Alternatively you can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. They never ask for your details or trace your call.
