CCTV appeal following two racially aggravated incidents in Bristol

Added on 12 March 2018 at 11:39

We’re releasing an image of a man we’d like to speak to following two racially aggravated incidents in a Bristol nightclub.

A man in his 20s was racially abused by another man in Kong’s Bar on King Street sometime between 9pm and 10pm on Friday, 2 March.

A second man, aged in his 30s, attempted to intervene in the incident and subsequently had a pint glass smashed against his head by the offender.

The victim sustained a substantial head wound which required medical treatment.

We’re treating the first incident as a racially aggravated public order offence and the second as racially aggravated GBH.

Investigating officer PC Katie Goncalves said: “The initial verbal abuse was unacceptable enough and no one should have to put up with such deplorable and offensive language.

“When it was challenged by another man the offender’s behaviour then escalated, resulting in a significant injury being caused to someone who was just trying to help.

“We’re keen to talk to the man in the image we’re releasing as we believe he may have information which could help our inquiry.

“If you recognise him, please call 101 and provide the call handler with the reference 5218046129.”
