Report illegal graffiti
If someone is caught applying graffiti, they might face arrest and can be charged under the Criminal Damage Act.
Graffiti is any painting, writing, marking, or defacing of a property without the owner’s permission.

If illegal graffiti is in progress right now, call 999.
What to report
You can report:
- tags and scribbles, such as those relating to gangs
- slogans
- political messages
- advertising
- cartoons
- other artistic creations
If you want to request graffiti to be cleaned up, contact your local council.
How to report
Before you report graffiti, you should have its location, images, and the property owner’s contact details if you are not the owner yourself.
