Youth Anti-Social Behaviour
Anti-social behaviour involving young people continues to be reported across parts of Avonmouth and Shirehampton, particularly in public spaces such as parks, shopping areas and transport hubs. These locations are often used as gathering points, and while the majority of young people behave responsibly, a minority are engaging in behaviour that causes concern within the community.
Reports include nuisance behaviour, excessive noise, verbal intimidation, and occasional incidents of criminal damage. These issues can have a significant and ongoing impact on the quality of life for local residents, making people feel uncomfortable or unsafe in their own neighbourhoods. Local businesses are also affected, with some reporting disruption to customers and damage to property.
We understand the frustration and concern this causes, especially when incidents occur repeatedly in the same locations or during evenings and weekends. Our neighbourhood policing team is working proactively with partners, including local authorities, youth services and schools, to address the root causes of this behaviour. This includes targeted patrols, engagement with young people, and where necessary, enforcement action.
We encourage residents and businesses to continue reporting incidents to us, as this helps us build an accurate picture of when and where issues are occurring so we can respond effectively. Together with the community, we are committed to reducing anti-social behaviour and ensuring that Avonmouth and Shirehampton remain safe and welcoming places for everyone.
