Hate Crime Awareness Week - Wheelchair Basketball Community Taster Session
For the fourth year running, the Bath Neighbourhood Policing Team are once again joining forces with some amazing partners to offer a free Wheelchair Basketball Community Taster Session as part of Hate Crime Awareness Week 2025!
The session will once again be run by the fantastic Nova Sports and Coaching Team. Nova is a not-for-profit organisation that delivers high quality, inclusive sports opportunities for children and adults with disabilities in Avon and Somerset.
The local policing team will be available to answer questions about how to report hate crime, or what to expect when you make a report. We are always happy to listen to any concerns or issues you might be having and offer advice and support.
Throughout the session there will be plenty of opportunity to try your hand at playing Wheelchair Basketball, facilitated by Bath Romans Wheelchair Basketball Club who will have players and coaches ready and willing to introduce you to this exciting Paralympic sport!
Absolutely anyone regardless of age, ability or experience is welcome to have a go in the sports wheelchairs, that will be provided on the day. Sports kit is advisable but not essential.
Whether you consider yourself to have a disability, or perhaps you’re a friend, family member, colleague, or carer of someone who does, we hope this event will be a fun and engaging opportunity to try a new sport, meet other members of the disabled community, speak to local hate crime experts, and learn about the services and support available to victims of hate in B&NES.
We look forward to seeing you on the day!
