We have received multiple reports concerning vehicle-related anti-social behaviour (ASB) within the Salthouse Fields Car Park in Clevedon. In response, our team will be conducting targeted patrols to identify individuals involved and take proactive measures to deter and detect offences. We are also working closely with partner agencies at North Somerset Council to implement long-term solutions aimed at preventing the recurrence of this issue.

Actions

  • 21 September 2025

The team are aware of several reports regarding vehicles being used in an anti-social manner at Salthouse Playing Fields Car Park. In response, the team has been conducting regular patrols of the area, engaging with car park users and, where necessary, moving vehicles on from the location.

North Somerset is covered by a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO), which prohibits a range of behaviours, including:

    • Revving engines to cause a public nuisance
    • Driving in a manner likely to cause alarm, harassment, distress, or public nuisance
    • Congregating or loitering in or around vehicles where such activity causes, or is likely to cause, noise, harassment, alarm, or distress (except for pre-authorised events)
    • Performing stunts such as doughnuts, drifting, skidding, handbrake turns, or wheel spinning
    • Causing unreasonable noise, including excessive use of horns, loud engines or exhausts, and playing loud music from car stereos

Anyone found breaching the PSPO may be subject to enforcement action.

We are also working closely with North Somerset Council, the owners of the car park, to identify a long-term solution. The council has sent letters to affected residents, and we encourage residents to engage with the council regarding any concerns.

  • 19 September 2025

In the two weeks prior to 19/09/25 no reports were received of vehicle related ASB at the car park.

We are still working with North Somerset Council and Clevedon Town Council to come to an arrangement regarding increasing security at the site.
