Being a predominantly retail environment, we suffer from a high-level of shop theft. Alongside the thefts businesses also suffer with ASB linked to this activity.

  The local neighbourhood policing team is continuing to work with partner agencies, including the Avon and Somerset Police design out crime unit, and the Bristol City Council streetwise team to counter retail crime currently taking place in Clifton Down.

  We also continue to regularly patrol targeted areas, in both plain clothes and high visibility uniform to deter crime.

  We’re taking a proactive and visible approach to tackling shoplifting in Clifton and Clifton Down  This includes regular high‑visibility patrols in key retail areas, working closely with shop staff and security teams to share real‑time intelligence, and targeting known offenders through partnership operations. We’re also encouraging businesses to report all incidents so we can identify patterns and respond quickly. By combining prevention, partnership, and enforcement, we’re aiming to reduce thefts and create a safer, more confident shopping environment for everyone.
