Tackling Parking Issues on Stapleton Road

Since January, the Neighbourhood Policing Team has been working hard to tackle ongoing parking problems along Stapleton Road. We know how much these issues affect local residents, businesses, and road users, and we are committed to making the area safer and more accessible for everyone.

To support this work, we have teamed up with Bristol City Council’s Parking Services to carry out joint enforcement operations. During an operation on 25 February, officers issued 60 parking tickets to vehicles causing obstruction or parked in restricted areas. A second joint operation on 4 March resulted in 36 further tickets being issued.

These efforts are part of our continued focus on improving traffic flow, reducing unsafe parking, and responding to community concerns. As we move into spring, we will continue working closely with our partners to maintain a visible presence and take action where needed.

Thank you to everyone who has shared information with us—your reports help us target problem areas and shape our approach.

Stapleton Road Update – Community Policing & Parking Improvements

We would like to share an update on the ongoing work taking place on Stapleton Road to improve safety and accessibility for everyone.

Since our last update, the team has continued regular patrols and worked in partnership with Parking Services to address parking concerns in the area. Joint operations have been carried out on several dates, resulting in the following enforcement activity:

    • 22 April – 43 tickets issued
    • 20 May – 71 tickets issued
    • 15 June – 43 tickets issued

These coordinated efforts are helping to reduce unsafe and inconsiderate parking.

We are also pleased to report a significant improvement following the recent installation of bollards on the upper section of Stapleton Road, opposite the shops. This has helped to prevent vehicles from mounting the pavement and causing obstructions.

    As a result:

    • Traffic is flowing more smoothly, with fewer bottlenecks
    • Buses are able to pass through without long delays
    • Pedestrians can use the pavements more safely and easily

We understand how important this route is for the community, and it’s encouraging to see these positive changes making a real difference.

Looking ahead, our team will continue regular patrols and joint work with Parking Services to maintain these improvements and respond to any ongoing concerns.

Thank you for your continued support.
