🚦 Community Speed Watch – Get Involved!

The Area Organiser of Community Speed Watch has received a number of new applications from several of our parishes – fantastic news for road safety!

However, some villages still have no CSW coverage. Having a regular CSW presence in a village slows vehicles down and helps keep everyone safer.

A number of Community Speed Watch (CSW) schemes in our area are holding their end-of-year AGMs and celebrating another year of positive contributions to road safety.
Thank you to the Leigh-on-Mendip village CSW team for inviting me to their AGM. It was a pleasure to meet everyone, and we’ve now arranged further dates to support the fantastic work they’re doing.
Once again, 100% of the reported speeders have been spoken to — a reminder for anyone unaware of the consequences of being recorded by a CSW scheme.
If you’re reported by CSW volunteers, the registered keeper of the vehicle will receive a written notice. If the same vehicle is recorded three times, a PCSO or Police Constable will visit to discuss the matter further. A record of this visit will be made and kept on file.

On 24th September, an annual Community Speed Watch meeting was held, with over 62% of CSW volunteers in attendance, along with Chief Constable, Police Crime Commissioner, Speed Reduction Unit and members of Mendip Neighbourhood Policing Teams.

This meeting highlighted the positive work being carried out by volunteers, recent work carried out by Speed Reduction Unit and Neighbourhood Teams.

Community Speed Watch is a high priority within Mendip and PCSO’s are continuing to attend CSW schemes when possible to support volunteers.
