ASB in Town centre
Glastonbury Town centre is still experiencing a troubling amount of Anti social behaviour in the town centre, mainly revolving around St johns church and the market place involving a small minority of persistent persons.
Increased Police Presence
- Officers have significantly increased patrols in the town centre to provide reassurance and deter offenders
- Hotspot patrols are being used to target areas with the most frequent incidents, especially around St John’s Church and the High Street
Police are actively using a range of legal powers to tackle persistent offenders:
- Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) letters: Formal warnings issued to individuals involved in disruptive behaviour.
- Community Protection Warnings (CPWs) and Community Protection Notices (CPNs): These can impose conditions on individuals to stop specific behaviours.
- Dispersal Notices: Used to remove individuals from the area for up to 48 hours.
- Targeted arrests: Especially of repeat or prolific offenders.These actions are part of a broader effort to restore safety and public confidence in Glastonbury’s town centre.
