Public Toilets Anti social behaviour
There has been an increase in anti-social behaviour in and around public toilets in the Glastonbury area. Reports from residents, businesses, and police patrols indicate the following:
- Drug use and dealing: Public toilets and nearby areas are being used for the consumption and distribution of illegal substances.
- Prostitution: reports suggest solicitation is occurring in public spaces, including toilets.
- Public disorder: Loitering, verbal abuse, and vandalism have been observed, particularly around St John’s Churchyard.
- Graffiti and vandalism: Toilets are being defaced with graffiti, contributing to a sense of neglect and disorder.
Enforcement Measures
- Hotspot Patrols: Local NPT officers are maintaining visible and frequent patrols in known problem areas to deter criminal activity.
- Dispersal Orders: NPT will continue to use these to remove individuals causing disruption for up to 48 hours.
- Stop and Search: Where legally justified, use of stop and search powers to disrupt drug activity, and articles to cause criminal damage.
- Community Protection Notices (CPNs): Issue to individuals repeatedly involved in anti-social behaviour.
- Targeted Arrests: Focus on known offenders involved in drug dealing or exploitation.
