There has been an increase in anti-social behaviour in and around public toilets in the Glastonbury area. Reports from residents, businesses, and police patrols indicate the following:
- Drug use and dealing: Public toilets and nearby areas are being used for the consumption and distribution of illegal substances.
- Prostitution: reports suggest solicitation is occurring in public spaces, including toilets.
- Public disorder: Loitering, verbal abuse, and vandalism have been observed, particularly around St John’s Churchyard.
- Graffiti and vandalism: Toilets are being defaced with graffiti, contributing to a sense of neglect and disorder.
Enforcement Measures
- Hotspot Patrols: Local NPT officers are maintaining visible and frequent patrols in known problem areas to deter criminal activity.
- Dispersal Orders: NPT will continue to use these to remove individuals causing disruption for up to 48 hours.
- Stop and Search: Where legally justified, use of stop and search powers to disrupt drug activity, and articles to cause criminal damage.
- Community Protection Notices (CPNs): Issue to individuals repeatedly involved in anti-social behaviour.
- Targeted Arrests: Focus on known offenders involved in drug dealing or exploitation.

Update on Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Priority
Patrols have continued in the area, with officers maintaining a visible presence to deter anti-social behaviour and provide reassurance to the community. We’ve been working closely with our partner agencies to address the underlying causes of ASB and support those affected.
We’re pleased to report a decline in ASB incidents in this area, and we’ll continue to monitor the situation closely. Our aim is to maintain this progress and ensure the area remains a safe and welcoming place for everyone.
