Dangerous and Careless Driving
Dangerous and careless driving has been identified as an ongoing concern across the area, with residents reporting issues such as speeding, poor driving standards and unsafe parking. Particular concerns include vehicles being parked on double yellow lines, zig-zag markings near pedestrian crossings, and in positions that obstruct visibility for other road users.
This type of behaviour creates significant risks to public safety, particularly for pedestrians, cyclists and other vulnerable road users, including children travelling to and from school. Unsafe parking around crossings and junctions can reduce visibility and increase the likelihood of road traffic collisions, while careless or inconsiderate driving can contribute to a heightened sense of danger within the community.
Your neighbourhood policing team is committed to improving road safety and reducing the risk of collisions across the area. We will be carrying out targeted patrols in identified hotspot locations, focusing on both moving traffic offences and unsafe parking. Where appropriate, enforcement action will be taken against those found to be driving dangerously or parking illegally.
We are also working with partner agencies, including local authority parking enforcement and road safety teams, to address problem areas and promote safer driving behaviour. This includes supporting long-term measures to improve road safety and responding to concerns raised by residents.
We encourage members of the public to continue reporting incidents of dangerous or inconsiderate driving, as this information helps us identify patterns, target our activity and take action where it is most needed. By working together, we aim to make our roads safer for everyone and reduce the risk of harm within the community.
