Shoplifting in Henleaze

The neighbourhood policing team is actively prioritising shoplifting offences across Henleaze and Westbury-on-Trym, with a focus on protecting local businesses and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for residents and visitors. Retail areas remain a key target for offenders, and we recognise the impact that repeat incidents can have on business owners, staff and the wider community.

We are working closely with local retailers, business groups and partner agencies to identify offenders, gather evidence and build strong cases against those responsible. This includes sharing information, supporting crime prevention measures and encouraging consistent reporting to help us better understand patterns of offending.

In response to ongoing concerns, we will be increasing high-visibility patrols in key locations and using intelligence-led policing to target those involved in shoplifting. Where appropriate, we will take enforcement action to disrupt offending and prevent repeat incidents.

Shoplifting can contribute to wider issues such as anti-social behaviour and can affect how safe people feel when visiting local shopping areas. Our aim is not only to reduce crime, but also to provide reassurance and support to businesses and the community.

We encourage anyone who witnesses or experiences shoplifting to report it to us. Information from the public plays a vital role in helping us respond quickly, identify suspects and take effective action. By working together, we can continue to tackle shoplifting and keep Henleaze and Westbury-on-Trym safe and thriving areas for everyone.
