Anti-Social Behaviour
Officers from the local Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) are currently conducting high-visibility patrols in areas where anti-social behaviour (ASB) has been reported. These locations include the Lake Grounds, High Street, and Wyndham Way. The purpose of these patrols is not only to deter individuals from engaging in ASB but also to identify those who may benefit from further interventions, including support from partner agencies.
In addition, on 16 June 2025, the North Somerset Neighbourhood Directorate welcomed a significant addition to our policing team. Eight police constables and one sergeant have joined the newly established Neighbourhood Tasking Team. This expansion represents a substantial boost to our NPT capacity. These officers will be undertaking additional high-visibility patrols and addressing the issues that matter most to our communities.
As part of the new initiative, Keeping Town Centres Safe this Summer, the team will focus on reducing street crime, shop theft, and anti-social behaviour in the town centres of Weston and Portishead.

The team have continued to prioritise patrols in areas where reports of anti-social behaviour (ASB) have been received, including the Lake Grounds, High Street, and Wyndham Way. These patrols are designed both to deter ASB and to identify those responsible.
In response to reports of ASB and suspected drug dealing in Portishead, officers executed several warrants in the Forth Avenue area under the Misuse of Drugs Act. These actions form part of our ongoing efforts to tackle drug-related crime and anti-social behaviour. Supported by specialist units and a drug search dog, the team seized cocaine, cannabis, and cash from one address.
The occupant was not present at the time, and neither of the two men found at the property were residents. We are working with partner agencies to safeguard the tenant. Two men in their twenties were arrested on suspicion of possessing cocaine and cannabis with intent to supply. Both have been released on police bail with conditions, including not contacting the householder, while further enquiries continue.
Additionally, one individual has been issued with a Community Protection Warning (CPW), prohibiting their return to Portishead, while the other is excluded from certain areas of the town. Any breach of a CPW is an offence and may result in a fine or further action under ASB legislation, alongside the ongoing criminal investigation.
We recognise the significant impact that drug-related crime and anti-social behaviour have on our communities. We remain committed to addressing these issues, working closely with partner agencies such as housing associations and the local Community Safety Partnership. We encourage residents to continue reporting any concerns regarding anti-social behaviour or drug activity, as your information is vital in helping us keep our communities safe.

The Portishead and Clevedon Neighbourhood Policing Team, in
collaboration with the Neighbourhood Tasking Team, has been
conducting high-visibility patrols in areas identified through
community reports as hotspots for anti-social behaviour (ASB). These locations include the Lake Grounds, High Street, Wyndham Way, and the vicinity of the abandoned Petersfield Care Home. The primary aim of these patrols is twofold: to deter individuals from engaging in ASB and to identify those responsible. As a result of this proactive approach, several individuals have already been identified and will be receiving follow-up visits from our officers. With the support of our dedicated ASB team, appropriate interventions will be implemented. Where criminal offences have been identified, investigations are underway.
Many of those involved are young people. We therefore urge
parents and guardians to take an active interest in where their
children are spending time and what they are doing in the
community. Behaviours such as shouting, swearing, and obstructing others from going about their daily lives have a direct and negative impact on the wider community. We have also seen a rise in reports of ASB involving vehicles, particularly around the Lake Grounds. In response, we are increasing patrols in these areas to engage with drivers and prevent further incidents.
We, along with partners at Portishead Town Council, strongly encourage residents to continue reporting any concerns or incidents. Your information helps us ensure that our patrols are targeted, timely, and effective.
