Sur‑Ron Bikes Causing Nuisance in Shepton Mallet
The Neighbourhood Policing Team has been made aware of ongoing issues involving Sur‑Ron electric bikes being ridden in Shepton Mallet town centre and nearby open spaces. These bikes are often being ridden at excessive speeds in areas not suitable for such use, creating both a nuisance and a significant safety risk to members of the public.
Sur‑Ron bikes are not permitted to be ridden on public land unless they are fully road‑legal, insured, taxed and ridden by a suitably licensed rider. Where these requirements are not met, the consequences can include the seizure of the bike under police powers.
We will continue to patrol affected areas and work with the community to address these concerns. If you witness dangerous or antisocial riding, please report it to the police via the appropriate channels, 999/101.
