Community Safety Alert: Police Impersonation Scam

We want to make residents aware of a current scam targeting members of our community. Fraudsters are making phone calls pretending to be from the police. They often claim they are investigating fraud and instruct the victim to:

  • Withdraw cash from their bank account, or
  • Purchase expensive items,
which they say will be collected by a “courier” or “officer.”

Important Facts

  • The police will never ask you to withdraw money or hand over valuables.
  • The police will never ask for your PIN or bank details over the phone.
  • The police will never send someone to collect money from you.

What You Should Do

  • Hang up immediately if you receive such a call.
  • Do not share personal or banking details.
  • Use a different phone line to call 101 and report the incident.
  • If you’ve shared details or withdrawn money, contact your bank immediately.
