Community SpeedWatch
Tackling Speeding in Our Communities
Speeding remains a top priority for our Neighbourhood Team. Through the Community SpeedWatch initiative, we aim to reduce speeding in residential areas and educate repeat offenders to improve road safety.
What is Community SpeedWatch?
Community SpeedWatch is a volunteer-led initiative that operates in villages, towns, and urban areas with 20, 30, or 40 mph speed limits. Local residents receive training and equipment to monitor vehicle speeds in their area.
How It Works
- Volunteers use speed detection devices to record speeding vehicles.
- Offenders receive a warning letter with advice to help change their driving habits.
- Persistent or high-end speeders may face further police action.
- Targeted enforcement is carried out in problem areas.
Working Together
Our Neighbourhood Team is proud to support and collaborate with Community SpeedWatch groups who carry out regular checks and play a vital role in keeping roads safe.
