Anti-Social Behaviour
We have received a number of reports regarding anti-social behaviour in the South Petherton area. Ensuring that public spaces remain safe and enjoyable for everyone in our community is extremely important to us.
Following enquiries, we have identified concerns relating to individuals with complex health needs in specific locations within the village. Due to the frequency of incidents and the resources required to respond to them, these issues have had a wider impact on the community. We understand that these incidents have caused concern among local residents.
We are working closely with partner agencies, including local authorities, mental health professionals, and community groups, to identify appropriate and sustainable solutions. Increased patrols are being carried out to provide reassurance to residents while this collaborative work continues.
Actions
Community Engagement
- Engage with local residents to better understand concerns and gather information.
- Work with partner agencies to support those involved and address the underlying causes of the reported behaviour.
Regular Patrols
- Maintain a visible presence within the community to deter anti-social behaviour and provide reassurance to residents.
- Conduct regular patrols in identified areas of concern.
Ongoing Work
We will continue to monitor reports, carry out regular patrols, and work alongside partner agencies to identify appropriate interventions. We encourage residents to continue reporting incidents so that concerns can be accurately assessed and addressed.
