Keyless Car Theft’s

We have had recent reports that cars have been taken off of resident’s driveways without key’s in some of the nearby villages and towns in the Mendip and Sedgemoor area’s.

This is known as “Keyless Car Thefts”, where criminals will use electronic scanners to pick up signals from the remote keys.

We wish to remind owners of vehicles to not leave keys by the front doors or windows and to keep them in a faraday bag, or something similar, to block any signals.

The Police will be conducting high visibility patrols, especially during the hours of darkness to help identify, or deter any further issues.

The Police want to remind residents to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity as soon as it happens by calling 999 and giving the call taker as much information as possible.
