Hunting, Hare coursing and Poaching

Wincanton Rural Neighbourhood Team have seen an increase in reports around hunting, hare coursing and poaching. We aim to establish better communications with our rural communities to address these issues and to encourage reporting.

We encourage reports to be made to help us get a better understanding on what is happening in your area. If you feel like contact from us in person would be better, you can contact our mailbox for a member of our team to speak with you and arrange an appointment.

I do understand with the winter months coming up quickly this priority does seem to increase so we would strong advise that any intelligence we could use with areas and times will help us forward plan the upcoming months.

  Wincanton Rural Neighbourhood Team are carrying out proactive patrols around different areas which we are receiving intelligence.

  As a Neighbourhood Team we are working with different forces across borders which include Wiltshire and Dorset. We also have  good work contacts with the Dorset rural crime team so we can discuss cross border intelligence and ways of working together to combat the problem.
