Vehicle Crime and Theft Prevention
The Wincanton Neighbourhood Policing Team has seen an increase in vehicles being stolen and then used to travel to other areas to commit thefts and burglaries.
We are working closely with the Dorset Rural Crime Team to tackle this issue, identify offenders, and support ongoing investigations.
As part of our response, officers will be carrying out regular high-visibility patrols in identified hotspot locations and areas where vehicle thefts have been reported.
We would encourage residents to remain vigilant, ensure vehicles are secured at all times, and report any suspicious activity to police. Together, we can help protect our communities and reduce opportunities for crime.
If you witness suspicious behaviour or have information relating to vehicle thefts, please report it online via the Somerset & Avon Police website or call 101. In an emergency, always call 999.
