Tackling Illegal Off-Road Bikes and Surron Bikes

  • Conducting targeted patrols in areas where illegal off-road bikes and Surron-style electric motorcycles are frequently reported.
  • Responding to community concerns and gathering intelligence to identify riders using vehicles unlawfully or in an anti-social manner.
  • Working with roads policing officers and partner agencies to take enforcement action against offenders where appropriate.
  • Seizing vehicles being used illegally on public roads, footpaths, parks and other prohibited areas when legislation permits.
  • Engaging with local residents, landowners and businesses to identify hotspot locations and prevent repeat incidents.
  • Using community intelligence, CCTV and other available evidence to identify riders involved in anti-social behaviour, dangerous riding or criminal offences.
  • Providing education around the legal requirements for electric motorcycles and off-road bikes, including registration, insurance, licensing and vehicle standards.
  • Encouraging members of the public to continue reporting incidents so that patrols and enforcement activity can be directed to the areas of greatest concern.
