Working closely with the Co-op, St Michael’s Ave to reduce shop theft.

In response to an increase in shoplifting and concerns around staff confidence in police support, PCSO Enzo has spent the past six months working in close partnership with staff at the Co-op on St Michael’s Avenue, Yeovil.

His efforts have included:

• Increasing patrols and visibility at the store
• Supporting staff in reporting incidents
• Assisting with the collection of CCTV footage and witness statements
• Facilitating enforcement action against repeat offenders

PCSO Enzo also met with the store’s security manager to discuss improvements to CCTV procedures, and our Designing Out Crime Officer provided further guidance on enhancing site security.

Although shoplifting has not been eliminated, data shows a reduction in incidents over the past six months compared to the previous period. Staff have reported feeling more supported and confident in the police response.
