Police appeal

We are appealing for witnesses and anybody with information in relation to high-value burglaries at two convenience stores in Bridgwater to come forward.

We are investigating break-ins at two stores on Parkway, Bridgwater, which were reported to us at around 12.30am on Tuesday 24 March.

Four unknown offenders caused significant damage to both retailers and left the scene with large quantities of tobacco products.

We understand the offenders, who were wearing face coverings and hoods at the time of the incident, made off in a van which was parked in Adscombe Avenue. One of the offenders has been described to be of particularly large build, while another was said to be wearing bright green clothes.

Large, white branded ‘dumpy’-style bags were reportedly used to move the stolen goods.

An investigation is now being carried out into the incident and CCTV, forensics, and various other enquiries are being conducted.

We have taken a number of statements from witnesses in relation to the incident, and we would urge anybody with information, CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage which could assist out enquiries, to contact us.

Neighbourhoods’ Inspector Charmaine Dyne said: “This appears to have been a carefully planned burglary, and a thorough investigation will be carried out while we continue to support the victim and provide them with any support they may need.

“We are investigating all lines of enquiry, and we would particularly like to hear from anyone who may have relevant footage of the offenders or the vehicle involved to contact us.”
