Teenager arrested after fire near Weston-super-Mare

An arrest has been made following a large fire near Weston-super-Mare this week.
Avon Fire and Rescue Service were called to a fire near Locking Farm Industrial Estate in the early hours of Tuesday 18 August, with police supporting with a partial closure of the A371 Locking Road as a result, which was later reopened.
Several businesses have been severely impacted by the fire that damaged industrial units.
Early fire investigation work was carried out and concluded the cause of the fire was likely deliberate.
Detectives leading the police investigation have carried out a number of actions over recent days, including house-to-house and CCTV enquiries.
A 17-year-old male was arrested by officers last night (Saturday 22 August) on suspicion of an arson offence. He remains in police custody.
