Witness appeal after death of cyclist in Yatton

We are appealing for witnesses following the death of a cyclist in Yatton on Tuesday 11 August.

We were called at 10.52pm by a member of the public who had located the man a short distance off North End Road.

Officers and paramedics attended the scene, near the rugby club, but sadly the man, who was in his fifties, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The man’s next of kin have been informed and our sympathies are with them.

The cause of death is currently unknown. We are keeping an open mind around the circumstances, but based off the information available to us currently we are treating this incident as an unexplained non-suspicious sudden death, rather than a fatal collision.

We are sharing this information to try to limit speculation, which can cause huge distress to grieving families.

House-to-house and CCTV enquiries were carried out and we continue to seek footage and witnesses to further our understanding around what happened.

North End Road remained closed while investigation work was carried out and was reopened yesterday morning.
