Second man charged in connection with serious Avonmouth assault 

A teenager has been re-arrested and charged in connection with a serious assault in Avonmouth that happened in July. 

The charge relates to an incident in Richmond Terrace on the evening of Friday 31 July, in which ship workers who had docked at Avonmouth sustained injuries. 

One of those injured remains in hospital in a critical condition. 

Preston Stabb, 18, and from Shirehampton, was re-arrested on Wednesday 2 September and has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and common assault. 

He has been remanded to appear at Bristol Magistrates Court on Thursday 3 September. 

A 45-year-old man, who was charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent last month, remains on remand ahead of appearing at Bristol Crown Court on Friday 4 September. 

Two other men, aged 19 and 28, previously arrested on suspicion of attempted murder have been released without charge and no further action will be taken. 

A 39-year-old woman remains on conditional bail having been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. 

The incident has been recorded as a suspected hate crime.
