Witness appeal after paramedics assaulted

We are appealing for witnesses to an incident of public order in which two paramedics were assaulted in Bristol.

A man flagged down an ambulance and while paramedics tried to engage with him, he became angry and began swearing at members of the public in Callington Road at around 2.30pm on Sunday 30 August.

The offender then assaulted two paramedics who tried to calm him down, but they did not suffer any injuries during the incident.

The offender is described as a white male, around 60 years old, of stocky build, who is bald, and has grey stubble. He is around 5ft 10ins tall and was wearing a pink polo shirt and blue jeans at the time of the incident.

We have carried out a number of enquiries, including a trawl of CCTV and initial witness statements have been taken.

We understand a number of people were in the area at the time of the incident, and one person is also understood to have intervened, and we would appeal to any witnesses and those with information to come forward.

A man, in his sixties, has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker and a public order offence and has been released on bail while enquiries continue.
