Officers investigating a suspected arson are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

On Tuesday 18 August at 10.30am, we received a report of a silver Hyundai Accent which had come off the road and into a ditch, on the A361 East Compton Road in Shepton Mallet.

Later that same day, sometime between 1-1.30pm, two unknown white males arrived at the scene of the collision in a black SUV-type vehicle. They reportedly started removing unknown items from the vehicle before setting it alight and leaving the scene

We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen anything at the time of the collision or have dashcam footage driving through the area around 1pm.
