Appeal after football fans assaulted

Police van at night

We’re releasing images of two men we’d like to speak to following an incident of serious disorder after a football match in Bristol.

We are investigating an incident in which a number of Millwall supporters suffered serious injuries during an unprovoked attack in Hotwells Road, Bristol Harbourside.

The incident happened at around 5pm on Saturday 15 August, following the EFL Championship match between Bristol City and Millwall at Ashton Gate.

Four men, between the ages of 19 and 23, suffered serious injuries, and were taken to hospital for treatment.

They have since been discharged from hospital to continue their recovery at home. We remain in contact with them and have offered them access to support services they may benefit from.

Officers have carried out a number of enquiries which have included a trawl of CCTV, speaking to witnesses, and intelligence checks.

We’re now at the stage where we are releasing an image of two people who we believe may have information which could assist our enquiries.

The first man, pictured above, is described as white, between the ages of 18-21, with medium length brown hair and wearing a black T-shirt and black shorts.

The second man, pictured above, is also described as white and between the ages of 18-21. He’s taller than the first and is wearing a long-sleeved grey T-shirt and grey shorts.

The men pictured are asked to contact us, as is anyone who recognises them or has other information about the incident.

If you can help, complete our online appeals form or call 101 and give the call handler the following reference number 5226230065.
