We’re appealing for witnesses, dashcam and information after an attack on a woman in Bristol.

Members of the public called us after coming across a distressed woman near the B4058 Stapleton Road, Eastville, at 5.40am on Thursday 15 October.

Officers attended and were directed to a woman in her forties who told them she had been punched and kicked by a man who attempted to sexually assault her and stole her bag and phone.

The man who attacked her is described as aged 20 to 30 and white, wearing a red T-shirt and a black jacket with jeans or joggers. He took the woman’s black tote bag which contained a purple phone and cash.

Officers took her to hospital for treatment to her injuries and thankfully she has now been discharged. We’ll take her full account when she is ready.

Officers put a scene in place while they completed initial enquiries, and this was lifted by 11.30am.

We’d like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and has any relevant information or footage.

If you can help, complete our online appeals form or call 101 and give the call handler the following reference number 5226338166.
