Celebrating commitment and public service at our Long Service and Good Conduct Awards

Behind every one of our awards is a personal story of commitment, resilience and public service. This week we hold our Long Service and Good Conduct Awards.

These ceremonies recognise police officers, police staff, special constables and volunteers who have reached significant service milestones.

New for this year, we have also introduced the Combined Service to Policing Award, which includes those who have dedicated 50 years to protecting and supporting our communities. Combined, they have contributed over 9,000 years of policing experience, each one having helped shape the organisation we are today.

We caught up with seven of this year’s recipients to hear their stories.

From baptisms of fire on their first day and being one of only a few women in a station, to radios with limited reception, paper-based records and uncomfortable uniforms, policing has changed dramatically over the years. While technology, equipment and ways of working have evolved beyond recognition, the qualities that define good policing have remained the same: dedication, courage, compassion and an unwavering commitment to serving the public.

Thank you to all our recipients – your dedication, professionalism and sacrifice have made a lasting positive impact on our communities and our organisation.
