The family of George, who died last month, have paid tribute to him and thanked well-wishers who have supported them.

George was reported missing from Portishead on Thursday 17 September and several public appeals for information were made.

Sadly, a body believed to be George was recovered from the South Wales coastline on Sunday 27 September. The formal identification process has been completed this week, confirming George’s death.

His family said: “George was a hugely loved son, brother, nephew, grandson and friend.

“He is deeply missed by all those who cared for him. We will never forget the great times we shared with him.

“We are grateful to all those who knew him for sending messages of support and condolence over the past two weeks.

“The public response has been both heart-warming and overwhelming, and we would like to take the opportunity to thank those who supported the efforts to find George while he was missing.

“As everyone can imagine, we are still trying to come to terms with what has happened and are grieving for George, so we would politely request people respect our family’s wish for privacy going forward.”
