Man, 71, charged with assaulting woman

A man has appeared in court charged with attempting to cause grievous bodily harm with intent against a woman in her sixties.

The charge relates to an incident at an address at Meare Green, near Taunton, on 16 December 2023.

David Powell, 71, of Meare Green, near Taunton, appeared at Taunton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 8 October.

He was released on unconditional court bail to appear at Taunton Crown Court on Monday 9 November.
