An investigation is underway following a report that two men approached a child in Weston-super-Mare on Sunday 1 November and tried to grab him.

The incident, which is believed to have taken place near the junction of Selworthy Road and St Ives Road, was reported to police by a parent of the child after they returned home at 8.45pm.

It is understood that two men, dressed in black and wearing balaclavas, approached the child after exiting a white Ford Transit van, but that they did not make physical contact with them.

Inspector Paul Chaplin: “This is a concerning incident and we’re working to identify these two men and establish the full circumstances of what happened.

“Officers attended within minutes of the call being received and have spoken to the boy and his family. We will continue to update them as our investigation progresses.”
