Racially-aggravated assault of taxi driver
We are issuing an image of three men we would like to speak to in relation to an incident of racially aggravated assault and criminal damage in Bristol.
A taxi driver was approached by unknown individuals who proceeded to use racial slurs towards him before carrying out an assault and causing damage to his vehicle, in Anchor Road at around 4am on Saturday 20 September.
The victim suffered a broken thumb and cuts to his face during the incident and was taken to hospital for treatment. He has since been discharged to continue his recovery at home, and we remain in contact with him and have offered him access to any support services he may benefit from.
We have taken an account from the victim, have carried out extensive CCTV enquiries, and are working with partner agencies while investigations continue.
A passing van driver shouted at the attackers during the incident, causing them to flee, and we would particularly like this person to come forward to assist with our enquiries.
We are now at the stage where we are releasing an image of three men we would like to speak to because we believe they may have information which could assist with our enquiries:
- The first man, pictured, is described as white, of large build, with black hair, who is wearing a blue jacket, black jeans, and trainers.
- The second man, pictured, is described as white, with brown hair, who is wearing a black T-shirt with a white collar, blue ripped jeans, and trainers.
- The third man, pictured, is described as white with black hair, black stubble, who is wearing a black long-sleeved top, dark blue jeans, and trainers.
All three men in the images are believed to be aged between 18 and 25.
This is an awful incident in which the victim was attacked while he was working and has undoubtedly caused him a great deal of distress. We’re giving the him the support he needs, while conducting a thorough investigation.
