In cases involving sexual offences, schools and colleges should refer to local safeguarding policies. GOV.UK also provides guidance:
- Guidance for keeping children safe in education
- Guidance on dealing with sexual violence and sexual harassment between children
In cases involving youth produced sexual imagery often known as “sexting”, schools and colleges may refer to the non-statutory UK Council for Internet Safety Sexting in schools and colleges Guidance.
We are an Operation Encompass force. The aim of this partnership is to ensure schools have timely information about all police-attended incidents of domestic abuse. It also means schools in the Avon and Somerset area can access resources to help them care for children and families affected by domestic abuse.
We have always shared information about school-age children experiencing domestic abuse in the home with educational settings, but by signing up to this initiative, we can provide more support to education professionals. Find out how schools can participate in Operation Encompass.
