Recent work tackling youth anti-social behaviour (ASB) has shown clear positive progress, particularly through the effective use of ASB warning letters alongside wider intervention tools. Early intervention remains a key strength, with timely and well-targeted letters helping to set clear expectations for behaviour and prevent escalation. Many young people have not come to further notice after receiving an initial warning, highlighting the value of this approach. Involving parents and guardians has also improved accountability and supported behaviour change within the home.
Stronger partnership working between police, schools, local authorities, and youth services has enabled earlier identification of those at risk and ensured a more coordinated and supportive response. This has been complemented by the use of additional tools such as acceptable behaviour contracts, community protection warnings, and diversionary activities, which provide a balanced approach between enforcement and support.
Overall, there has been a reduction in repeat incidents and fewer reports of youth ASB in key areas, alongside improved community confidence. Residents have responded positively to the proactive and preventative approach being taken. Continued focus on early intervention, engagement, and partnership working will be key to sustaining these improvements.

We continue to respond to reports of youth‑related anti‑social behaviour in Minehead, including incidents that have caused nuisance, distress, or damage within the community. Our Neighbourhood Team remains committed to tackling these concerns promptly and effectively.
We are actively using a range of ASB interventions to encourage appropriate behaviour and deter further incidents. This includes engaging directly with young people, working with parents and schools, issuing proportionate warnings, and involving partner agencies where longer‑term support or enforcement is needed. These measures aim to prevent escalation and promote positive decision‑making among local young people.
We are already seeing positive results from this work, with a reduction in reported incidents in the areas where interventions have taken place and improved engagement with the individuals involved. We will continue to monitor and adapt our approach to ensure this progress continues.
High‑visibility patrols remain in place in the most affected locations, and we encourage residents to report any ongoing concerns so we can continue to target resources effectively.

The Neighbourhood Team will be conducting high-visibility, proactive patrols during peak times of reported anti-social behaviour. These patrols aim to act as a deterrent and ensure that individuals engaging in such behaviour are held accountable. In addition, the team is working closely with the Police Anti-Social Behaviour Unit to implement targeted interventions designed to address and reduce these behaviours.
Additionally to this, there will be a ‘Youth Hub’ being held in McDonalds (Vulcan Road, Minehead), hosted by the ‘In The Mix Project’. This will be run every Saturday between 3pm and 5pm with the aim of working to reduce the risk of violence among young people and improve safety for all.
If you witness or experience anti-social behaviour, please report it through the appropriate channels. Your information helps us take action and keep our community safe.
