garages and sheds
We are seeing an increase in burglaries targeting garages and sheds. Some stolen motorcycles and bicycles had recently been advertised for sale online. In several cases, a potential buyer obtained the seller’s address, failed to attend a viewing, and the item was stolen shortly afterwards.
If you are selling a high-value item, do not share your address or post photos that reveal your house number, street name, garage number, or where the item is stored. If a buyer does not turn up, remain vigilant and review your security.
Remember: when you advertise an item for sale, you may also be advertising it to thieves. Where possible, meet prospective buyers in a well-lit public place.
If you see suspicious activity or believe someone may be targeting your property, report it to the police online or by calling 101. Always call 999 if a crime is in progress or there is an immediate danger.
