Road Safety – A371 Locking Moor Road, Weston-super-Mare

Following recent road traffic collisions, along with concerns raised by children, parents, and local residents, officers are placing a renewed focus on road safety on the A371 Locking Moor Road, which runs between Locking Parklands and Locking Village.

The junction of Apprentice Way and the A371 is situated close to three schools and is part of a 30 mph zone. With heavy daily footfall from school children and families, it is essential for drivers to remain observant of their speed and pedestrians.

In response to concerns, the area will see an increase in:

  • High‑visibility patrols
  • Speed checks and enforcement activity

Speeding is one of the Fatal Five driving offences, and even small increases in speed can significantly raise the risk and severity of collisions. We encourage all motorists using the A371 to be mindful of their speed, drive responsibly, and help keep the community safe.

If you have concerns about road safety or would like to report incidents, please do so via 101 or our online reporting services.
